Oscar Isaac Cast as Solid Snake in Long-Delayed Metal Gear Solid Film

Oscar Isaac has been confirmed to play Solid Snake in Sony’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation, according to Deadline. Isaac is known for his roles as Poe Dameron in the recent Star Wars trilogy and as Duke Leto Atreides in the forthcoming Dune film, making him a compelling choice for the iconic video game protagonist.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct the Metal Gear Solid film, which remains in active development. However, the project has faced significant delays, with creator Hideo Kojima first announcing plans for a movie back in 2006. A production start date has not been established, indicating that release is not imminent.

The casting of Isaac in the lead role may signal renewed momentum for the long-stalled adaptation. In a parallel case, the Uncharted movie, also in development for over a decade, has reportedly begun filming scenes, offering a hopeful precedent for the Metal Gear Solid project.
